IT3 Hazardous Waste Combustion
February 2018 Chapter Meeting
Topic: Is Environmental Regulation Dead?
Speaker: Joseph F. Guida, Principal, Guida, Slavich & Flores, P.C.
Date: Tuesday, February 27, 2018
Time: 11:30 am - 11:55 am - Networking
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm - Lunch/Discussion

With the dramatic change in the governing philosophy of the nation’s commander-in-chief, coupled with Republican domination of Congress and state governments, some are wondering: Is environmental regulation dead?  The presentation showcases the elements of the American environmental protection infrastructure that, in the aggregate, will continue to act as a countervailing force against shifting political trends in Washington, D.C. and in state governments.  The presentation also focuses on reasons for the enduring importance of environmental protection standards and obligations in our economy and legal system.

Mr. Guida is the founding principal of Guida, Slavich & Flores, P.C., an environmental law boutique in Dallas and Austin.  He has practiced environmental law since 1979.   He has a diversified, national environmental law practice covering air and water pollution control, solid and hazardous waste management issues, toxic substances, and state and federal Superfund (CERCLA) matters.  He has represented clients in a vast array of industrial and commercial settings.   Mr. Guida also was a founder and the first Chairman of the Environmental Law Section of the Dallas Bar Association.  Mr. Guida received his law degree, as well as a M.A. in Public Administration and a B.A. in Government & Foreign Affairs, from the University of Virginia.
